Brazilian Wax vs Bikini Wax: Which Should You Book?

Getting ready to strut your stuff by the pool or at the beach (or even wanting to keep it tidy down there all year long) means it’s time to pay some attention to your bikini line. Out of the most common methods people use to remove hair from intimate areas, waxing is our favorite. You won’t have to deal with razors or messy creams, and the results speak for themselves- weeks without having to deal with unwanted hair.

Sometimes people new to waxing aren’t sure what type of bikini waxing to select. Choosing how much to remove is a personal choice and we are here to make the process as comfortable as possible.

Today, we’re getting personal with these two hair removal methods to help you choose the best for you.

What are the major differences between a Brazilian and Bikini wax?

Even if you haven’t tried body waxing before, you’ve probably heard about these two styles. A Bikini wax takes off the least amount of hair between the two, what’s on the sides or would be just past the bikini line. Brazilians usually take off everything front to back (while sometimes still leaving a strip). We also offer an Extended Bikini, which is somewhere in between just the bikini line but not all of the labia and backside area.

Removing unwanted body hair is a personal choice, and whichever you choose is right for you. Depending on your needs and aesthetic, you can switch it up. Just let your waxer know what your preferences are and we’ll do just that!

The area being waxed differs in a Brazilian and Bikini wax

Brazilian waxing removes all the hair in your pubic area, front to back. For a completely nude look, this is your best choice. Some choose to leave behind a triangle or strip in the front, but that’s up to you. This service usually includes the butt and area between the legs as well, so you’ll be totally hairless.

Bikini waxing focuses on the front only with a couple of different focuses. You can do just your panty line, across the top and down the sides, to keep any strays from peeking out. An Extended Bikini wax takes as much off the front as you’d like. Often, people choose to leave a strip, triangle, or square behind, but again, that’s up to you.

Brazilian wax tends to be more expensive

Because of the more intimate nature and area covered during a Brazilian wax, they tend to be more expensive.

At Studio Wax, we charge $50 for a basic bikini. This service includes up to a four-finger distance from your hip crease and one inch from the top. Our bikini-extended will take everything off the front for $65. The Brazilian treatment includes everything down below for $80.

Depending on your location, prices vary. Make sure to check out your local spa to see where their prices are at.

The benefits of a Brazilian wax

brazilian wax vs bikini wax

For some of us, a Brazilian is exactly what we want for year-round comfort. Not everyone loves having pubic hair, and this is one of the fastest, most efficient ways to remove everything. Instead of spending time with a mirror and razor, try a waxing session! We think you’ll love it.

Every hair will be removed from your pubic area

One of the biggest bonuses when it comes to waxing as a hair removal method is its thoroughness. Your esthetician won’t leave a single hair behind, from your pubic bone to your backside. It’s the best way to get that smooth feeling that we love.

Waxing reduces the chances of ingrown hairs (with proper aftercare)

Shaving and depilatory creams can leave behind razor bumps and ingrown hairs. As long as you follow your esthetician’s instructions for aftercare, you’ll be home-free! Because hair is removed from below the surface, when it grows back, it’s undamaged. A strict exfoliation and aftercare routine will make sure you’re never dealing with ingrowns again.

Your esthetician helps you relax and feel comfortable during your wax

It can be intimidating to let your technician get personal with your intimate areas. But our team is adept at helping you relax and feel comfortable during your session. When you’re booking your appointment, just let us know about any questions or concerns, and we’ll put you at ease!

We know that waxing can be uncomfortable, no matter your pain tolerance, and we always take special care with our clients. Taking a dose of ibuprofen before your session could help, too!

The benefits of a bikini wax

Bikini waxing is ideal if you’re just trying to clean up around your panty line. Those wanting to dip their toes into an intimate waxing experience sometimes start with a bikini wax first.

A bikini wax could be ideal for those who haven’t waxed before

Especially if you’ve never waxed down below before, a bikini wax is a great place to start. With our various services, you can do a basic bikini to take just a bit in the beginning. Then, if you love it as much as we think you will, you can graduate to a Brazilian next time. However you decide to style your body hair, you’re in a judgment-free zone in our waxing salon.

Bikini waxes are better for your bikini line than shaving

Grabbing a razor and shaving cream before donning your bodysuit or swimwear is a pain. You can end up with ingrown hairs and razor burns in a delicate area. By contrast, a bikini wax is a long-lasting and effective way to keep things neat and trim. You won’t damage your skin; after a few sessions, you’ll have less hair to manage!

Brazilian or bikini wax, Studio Wax is here to provide you with the best wax experience!

Studio Wax specializes in Brazilian and bikini waxing, and we’d love to see you! We thrive on the personal connections we build with our clients and want you to feel at home in our salon. With years of experience, our team is ready to serve you and help you look and feel your best.
